Role

Level Designer, QA

Cookie Cats is a vibrant, accessible, casual match‑3 puzzle game with charming aesthetics, varied game modes, and social competition.

Link colorful cookies to create chains and clear objectives across hundreds of unique handcrafted levels, featuring varied objectives such as rescuing kittens, beating villains like Buster the Dog and Ivy the Plant, and tackling strategic challenges in a saga-style main progression.

The difficulty curve is carefully paced, offering both immediate accessibility and long-term challenge. A cheerful art style, playful animations, and character-driven humor (including a cast of adorable, singing cats) add personality and charm to the experience.

The game is a free-to-play model with occasional gates requiring time-wait or in-app purchase, and optional in‑app purchases offering boosts to keep the core gameplay accessible on higher difficulties. Cookie Cats also features social competition via leaderboards, encouraging replayability and light-touch multiplayer dynamics.

I joined the project while completing my thesis, starting as a QA tester with a focus on verifying functionality and balancing of new features and content, and performing regression testing. This led me to take the initiative to help establish the test automation pipeline, writing the initial automation scripts and laying the foundation for more efficient testing processes.

Later, I transitioned into a level design role, where my main focus on Cookie Cats was the creation of engaging, balanced levels. Working within a weekly target of approximately 10 levels, I contributed several hundred unique levels to the game, ensuring consistent quality and variety to support long-term player engagement.
