Kostrejsen is an educational mobile game aimed at helping children with diabetes understand how different types of food impact blood sugar levels. Designed for users aged 8–15, it presents a series of short, interactive minigames that model the effects of carbohydrates, fiber, and fats through simple mechanics like sorting, matching, and estimation.
The game is set in a stylized space station and uses a light reward system to maintain engagement without relying on in-app purchases or data collection. Gameplay is intentionally streamlined, with clear visuals and minimal interface complexity to ensure accessibility and support learning.
Developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals, Kostrejsen serves as a companion tool to structured diabetes education programs, emphasizing clarity, retention, and medical relevance through approachable, repeatable interactions.
Kostrejsen was handled by a subset of the design team. Based on medical data sheets and learning content requirements, we developed a game concept tailored to meet specific educational goals.
We produced animated presentations of each mini-game concept and provided structured overviews to help the client select the most suitable options, ensuring all learning objectives were addressed.
My contributions included task management, documentation, creating UI mock-ups, providing feedback on art and tech implementation, and developing a character generator tool that significantly expanded character variety. Additionally, we collaborated on designing a range of task types and difficulty levels for each mini-game.
