Rose’s Adventure is a narrative-driven mobile match-3 game that combines casual puzzle mechanics with light story progression. Players follow the character Rose and her loyal dog Pod on a journey across vibrant environments in search of her missing sister Lily, uncover environmental threats, and meet whimsical characters like the Leaflings along the way.
The core gameplay is built around standard match-3 conventions, clearing tiles, using boosters, and overcoming level-specific obstacles, framed within a structured sequence of over 800 levels. Clearing those allows the player to progress through the narrative and perform light world-building tasks, such as unlocking characters or restoring spaces. Timed events and competitions encourage retention and award additional resources, helping the player progress past difficult levels.
The game emphasizes emotional tone and accessibility, using soft visuals and character-driven storytelling to create a sense of gentle momentum while maintaining familiar, low-friction match-3 gameplay loops.
My work on Rose’s Adventure covered three main areas.
Game design, where I was responsible for core design tasks such as economy balancing, onboarding and tutorialization, and maintaining clear documentation. I also introduced best practices, such as using generic identifiers in the engine, to streamline development and reduce rework when visuals or mechanics changed.
Level design, where I created, balanced, and implemented levels, including the design of new blockers that introduced fresh gameplay challenges and variety.
Live ops and content maintenance, in which my responsibilities included scheduling level releases, designing events and competitions to support player engagement, and conducting data analysis and visualization to inform design decisions and improve performance.
